The White Lotus is back with its much anticipated third instalment. Set in Thailand, the third outing follows the adventures of a new group of vacationers and hotel employees over the span of a week. Created by Mike White, season 1 of the American black comedy drama premiered on 11 July 2021 to great critical acclaim. Applauded primarily for its genius writing, well-developed characters and satirical portrayal of class dynamics and luxury vacationing, season 1 enjoyed multiple wins at the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards — including Outstanding Directing for White, Outstanding Supporting Actress for Jennifer Coolidge and Outstanding Supporting Actor for Murray Bartlett.
Meanwhile, season 2 was released on 30 October 2022 and became an instant commercial blockbuster. According to HBO (via Deadline), the series enjoyed a record-breaking finale with over 4.1 million global viewers across the platform. It also won major nods at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series – 2023 for Jennifer Coolidge and Outstanding Music Supervision – 2023.
Season 3, which premiered on 16 February 2025, is expected to expand the anthology’s success with a new plot and twisted characters.
Talking about the same, lead actor Aimee Lou Wood shared in a press conference, “It’s about fate versus free will. How much is destined and how much choice and agency do we have? Some people have the fatal flaw, the pride. And is that destined, that downfall, or do we have a choice?”

Previously in season 3, Zion Lindsey — the son of visiting spa centre manager Belinda — is getting ready for a meditation session with staff member Amrita. Soon, multiple gunshots create commotion and a corpse floats into view. The narrative then shifts to a week earlier, like previous seasons. As a ship approaches the harbour, viewers see the staff preparing to greet the new guests arriving at the White Lotus for their stay.

The Ratliff family
This family from North Carolina includes Timothy and Victoria, a wealthy businessman and his wife. Piper, their daughter, is a college senior who is writing her thesis on Buddhism; Saxon, the eldest son, works for his father; and Lochlan, the youngest son, is a high school senior struggling to decide on his next college.
The girls’ trip trio
Jaclyn is a famous actress. Laurie and Kate are her childhood friends.
The couple
Rick Hatchett is a mysterious man travelling to Thailand with Chelsea, his girlfriend.
Episode three of The White Lotus season 3 begins with Victoria waking up after a strange yet vivid dream about a tsunami. Later that morning, when she shares her dream with her family during breakfast, Piper suggests that dreams are symbolic and that her mother’s dream could be a warning, though Saxon mocks her for her remark. Meanwhile, Timothy finds out that two FBI officials are looking for him. Stressed by his employees trying to reach out to him, he suggests to his family that they go for a digital detox and get rid of their phones and laptops. To help him calm down, Victoria insists he take one of her pills, which Timothy does. When he wakes up, he secretly takes another pill.
Elsewhere, Rick makes progress in his pursuit of Sritala’s husband. He starts a conversation with Sritala by introducing himself as an interested producer and gets her business card. He also learns that Sritala would be visiting Bangkok the next day. Rick later calls Frank and suggests that they meet in Bangkok.
As the episode progresses, Pornchai meets Belinda and informs her that she will get another demonstration soon. On the other hand, Valentin comes to Jaclyn, Laurie and Kate to inform them about his energy healing sessions. Once he leaves, Jaclyn encourages Laurie to start a fling with Valentin.
During Dr. Amrita’s session, Rick confesses that he has done “a lot of bad things.” He also admits that his father was a decent man, but he never got to know him because he was murdered. He then goes on to say, “I can’t get my life back. But maybe I can still get some satisfaction.”
Viewers then see Piper visiting a nearby temple to meet monk Luang Por Terra. She gets an appointment to meet him on Friday. Lochlan attends a posture correction program and gets uncomfortable when the specialist looks through him and points out that Lochlan is a people pleaser. Additionally, Gaitok learns from Sritala’s bodyguards that Fabian wanted to fire him but Sritala insisted otherwise.
Towards the end of the episode, Rick and Chelsea attend a snake show in town. Soon, Rick, who is high on weed, goes into an emotionally charged rampage and lets all the snakes loose, leading to Chelsea being bitten by one. She is rushed to a hospital and thankfully recovers from the snakebite. That night, the couple reluctantly meets Chloe and Greg for dinner. The episode ends with Chelsea informing Rick that they have been invited to Greg’s yacht the next day, along with the Ratcliff family. As Rick complains about it, Greg notices stares between Chloe and Saxon.
