
Tuaran: The Wiramuda movement of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) voiced concern about the level of safety of students in two schools near here who risk getting involved in accidents.
Its leader, Kong Soon Choi, said a survey carried out on the main road in front of the gates of the Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan (SRK) and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tamparuli clearly showed a safety risk.
“The gates of the two schools are actually located on the shoulder of the main road where many vehicles pass through and could pose a safety risk to the students,” he said in a statement, recently.
He suggested that a bridge be built or speed barrier erected to avoid any unwanted incident happening to students including parents and pedestrians in the area.

Read more Kong also suggested that drivers should be cautious when passing the road in front of the two schools and not drive fast for the safety of all parties.
“Symbols to slow down vehicles have been displayed before passing through the school grounds, so it is necessary to follow them to avoid any accidents or hitting pedestrians,” he said.
He also hoped that the traffic police would be made available to ensure the safety of students.
