Kelantan police install high-security concertina wire at 26 illegal bases along the Sungai Golok riverbank to curb cross-border crimes.

PASIR MAS: High-security concertina wire has been installed around illegal bases along the Malaysia-Thailand border near the Sungai Golok riverbank.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the measure aims to curb cross-border crimes.

The first phase covers a 1.5-kilometre stretch from Rantau Panjang town to Pos Ibrahim Pencen.

“This barbed wire will be installed at 26 illegal bases previously demolished by security agencies,” he told reporters after inspecting the installation.

He added that the Prime Minister’s Department’s Implementation Coordination Unit has approved RM100,000 for the project.

Mohd Yusoff said the next phase will be completed in stages before Ramadan.

The inspection was also attended by Southeast Brigade General Operations Force Commander SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain and Kelantan National Security Council director Datuk Mohd A. Aruwan Ab Aziz.
