The Blues were on the look out for a centre-forward to assist manager Thomas Tuchel's team for this season.
They were linked to Cristiano Ronaldo, but that move did not materialize.
The Blues have now secured Aubameyang from Barcelona permanently, who takes the no.9 shirt worn by current loanee Romelu Lukaku.
The latter is at Inter Milan, while Aubameyang will be expected to score the goals to lift Chelsea up the Premier League table.
The Gabon striker left Arsenal for Barca in January on a free transfer, but rejuvenated his career with the Catalan giants.
