The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Friday announced the appointment of new District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents for Delhi as part of its ongoing “Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan”, aimed at strengthening the party’s organisational structure at the grass-roots level.
In a press release issued by AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, the party said Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had approved the proposal for the appointment of DCC presidents in Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh with immediate effect.
The appointments follow a detailed review process carried out by AICC observers assigned to each district. According to the release, the observers interacted with party workers and stakeholders before submitting comprehensive reports, following which consultations were held with senior leaders.
In Delhi, 14 district units have received new presidents. Siddharth Rao has been appointed president of the Adarsh Nagar district unit, while Mohammed Usman will head Chandni Chowk. Mangesh Tyagi has been named president for Karawal Nagar and Raj Kumar Jain for Babarpur.
Vijender Choudary has been appointed for Patparganj, Sumit Sharma for Krishna Nagar and Mahender Bhaskar for Karol Bagh. Mohinder Mangla will lead the New Delhi district unit, while Indrajeet Singh has been appointed for Rohini.
Varun Dhaka has been named president for Kirari, Amandeep Singh Sudan for Tilak Nagar and Rajesh Yadav for Najafgarh. Virender Sharma has been appointed for Mehrauli, while Harsh Choudhary will head the Badarpur district unit.
The reshuffle comes at a time when the Congress is attempting to revive its organisation in Delhi ahead of upcoming civic and political battles in the national capital. Party leaders say the restructuring exercise is intended to energise cadre networks and improve coordination at the booth and district levels.
