Hundreds of Congress workers and leaders held a demonstration near the residence of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini in Kurukshetra on Saturday, to protest over the NEET paper leak row and irregularities in the CBSE examinations.
The Congress workers, led by the national president of the Indian Youth Congress, Uday Bhanu Chib and Congress MP Deepender Hooda, took out a protest march and reached near the barricades installed by the police. In view of the protest, a heavy police deployment was made by the district police to maintain the law and order situation.
They raised slogans against the BJP government and demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Meanwhile, as the Congress workers attempted to cross the barricades, water cannons were also used by the police to keep the Congress leaders and workers away from the barricades.
The Congress leaders raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the PM has failed to protect the rights and future of the youngsters.
Thanesar MLA Ashok Arora, Shahabad MLA Ramkaran Kala, Congress District President Mewa Singh, Haryana Youth State President Nishit Kataria and several other youth Congress leaders participated in the protest.
While addressing the party workers, Congress MP Deepender Hooda said unemployment, drug menace, illegal immigration and crime are on the rise in Haryana.
The BJP government has failed to conduct examinations in a fair manner. Paper leak mafias are operating across the country under the patronage of the BJP government.
Despite continuous failures, the education minister is not even taking responsibility. The government is misguiding the public and taking no concrete steps and action against the officials responsible for the lapses.
“The BJP government makes tall claims about giving jobs without ‘Kharchi and Parchi’, but in reality, it demands ‘Kharcha’ to leak ‘Parcha’ (money to leak papers). In every recruitment of the Haryana Public Service Commission, people from other states get the majority of the jobs in Haryana and the youngsters of Haryana are forced to go abroad through donkey routes,” Hooda said.
Deepender Hooda further said, “We wanted to stage a peaceful protest outside the CM’s residence, but the police used force. We asked the police to arrest all the congressmen, but they expressed an inability, as they didn’t have space for thousands of Congressmen. As we refused to go back, they detained all the Congressmen at the Dharna site and later announced to release us. Congress will continue to raise the voice of the youth strongly. The congressmen have sent a strong message and the Congress party will shatter their arrogance. We will raise the issue from the streets to parliament.”
The Congress leaders said the education minister should resign on moral grounds. The next protest will be held in Panipat on June 12.
