The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Tuesday held its monthly meeting under the leadership of district president Yogesh Sawhney, with proceedings presided over by working president and former minister Raman Bhalla.
Bhalla launched a sharp attack on the administration, alleging failure to address basic civic issues affecting the public. He highlighted growing distress caused by irregular water supply, unscheduled power cuts and deteriorating infrastructure in urban as well as peripheral areas of Jammu.
He said residents are facing severe hardships due to damaged roads, poor drainage systems and inadequate sanitation, which, he added, reflect administrative apathy and lack of accountability.
Bhalla also expressed concern over rising unemployment among youth, stating that the lack of concrete job opportunities and delays in recruitment processes have led to frustration and uncertainty. He noted that inflation and the rising cost of living have further burdened households, particularly those from economically weaker sections.
He urged the government to step up preparations ahead of the monsoon season to prevent untoward incidents. Stressing the need for immediate action, he called for strengthening and cleaning drainage systems, preventing waterlogging in vulnerable areas and ensuring adequate disaster preparedness to safeguard lives and property.
Former minister GM Saroori, in his address, emphasised unity and discipline within party ranks and urged leaders to stay connected with the public. He highlighted the importance of raising genuine issues and ensuring that the concerns of marginalised sections are effectively represented.
Senior leader Sawhney reiterated the party’s commitment to addressing public grievances and strengthening its grassroots network.
