A CONSTRUCTION worker was brought before the Sessions Court in Seremban today to face a charge of raping a 15-year-old child approximately three years ago.
Muhammad Nur Aiman Mohd Khairi, 22, appeared before Judge Datin Surita Budin and was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl, who was 15 years and eight months old at the time of the incident, at a hotel in the district around 3pm in mid-April 2022.
The unrepresented accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years in jail and potential whipping upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni proposed bail be set at RM30,000 with one surety and three additional conditions. However, the accused appealed for a reduction, arguing that he only worked as a construction labourer with an unstable income.
The Court inquired why the case had taken a significant amount of time to be brought to charge. Norazihah explained that there was an instruction to first obtain a chemistry report.
“The chemistry report was positive and the victim has already given birth to the accused's child, who is now approximately two years old,” Norazihah informed the court.
The prosecution also stated that the charging process was prolonged because the accused was previously difficult to trace and failed to appear when summoned.
The Court subsequently set bail at RM20,000, along with the conditions that the accused must not disturb witnesses, must report to the nearest police station monthly until the case concludes, and must surrender any international passport he possesses.
The case has been fixed for mention on 23 December. - November 21, 2025
