
A content creator on TikTok was arrested in Subang Jaya for wearing unauthorised police vest and helmet after viral video leads to investigation.
PETALING JAYA: A local man seen wearing a vest and helmet bearing the logo of the police force without authorisation in a viral social media video has been arrested.
According to Harian Metro, Subang Jaya Deputy District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Fairus Jaafar said police received information on the video yesterday, adding that the incident is believed to have occurred on April 17 before it was recorded and uploaded to TikTok.
“Further investigation led to the arrest of a local male suspect in his 30s in the USJ area of Subang Jaya to assist in the investigation.
“The suspect will be remanded for further investigation and the case is being investigated under Section 89 of the Police Act 1967 for using police equipment and uniform without valid authorisation,” he was quoted as saying.
He added that the case is also being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for indecent behaviour in a public place and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for uploading offensive content.
He urged the public to refrain from speculating on the case and to provide any relevant information to the Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 03-7862 7222 to aid investigations.
