SHAH ALAM, Feb 17 — The contractor handling the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) demolition is closely monitoring air quality in surrounding areas to minimise the impact on the upcoming Ramadan bazaar, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI said today.
MBI special projects general manager Datuk Ruslan Abdul Aziz said developer Lembaran Prospek Sdn Bhd has followed Department of Environment guidelines since demolition work began on July 1 last year.
“The monitoring is crucial to prevent dust and debris from the demolition from affecting food preparation at the Ramadan bazaar,” he told the press during a site visit with MRCB Land Sdn Bhd recently.

Ruslan said that workers are conducting frequent water spraying to control dust dispersion, with additional measures ready if needed.
“If air quality readings rise, workers will increase the frequency of water spraying to dampen the roads. Additional water tankers will also be deployed.
“This will help minimise dust spread and ensure that debris from the cleanup work is kept under control,” he said.
The stadium demolition is being carried out using conventional methods without explosives to minimise disturbance to nearby residents.
The new KSSA development will feature a stadium for Selangor FC with a seating capacity between 30,000 and 40,000, along with public recreational areas.
