SANDAKAN: Taman Seaview residents here have to endure another two more months with the dusty situation caused by widening the drainage at the Sungai Anib.

The residents are disappointed and lodged a complaint with the Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS).

Therefore, LDP Vice President Robert Chong cum MPS Councillor recently brought up this matter during a meeting with Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS).

“The residents of Taman Seaview are disappointed that the contractor did not take the proper procedure to clean up the dust during dry season and the road leading to the resident is muddy during wet season and worsens with heavy equipment moving along the road,” he said.

“The work is about 85 per cent completed and the contractor apologised to the residents for the dusty atmosphere,” said JPS during the meeting.

They assured that the drainage work would be settled within two more months and they hoped the residents would compromise with the contractor.

“The contractor also explained that unexpected extra work within the area came up and has to arrange to settle it causing the delay in completing the work,” said Chong. He hoped the residents would give the contractor another two months to finish the construction work.

“This project of widening the drainage is to prevent further flooding around the area during rainy season, which will benefit road users and nearby residents,” he said.
