Kota Kinabalu: The government should control the supply of basic necessities during the festive season, especially oil in polybags and sugar.
Kapayan Assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang said with world food production affected by climate uncertainty and geopolitical conflicts, guaranteeing food sufficiency through imports is increasingly challenging.
“We must prepare early. The attitude of some traders who stock goods and control production is also the cause of this lack of supply, the problem will continue if action is not taken immediately.”
Jannie quoted Minister of Economy, Rafizi Ramli’s closing speech in Parliament recently who stated that it is not impossible that the amount of subsidy will reach RM100 billion if allowed to continue.
