TAWAU: A cook of a famous restaurant here was killed in a three-vehicle accident at Jalan Merotai - Bombalai around 7.20 pm, Sunday.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the 21-year-old male cook was said to be riding a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle which hit a Yamaha Y16ZR motorcycle ridden by another male, 24, when the incident happened.

“Both motorcycles were travelling on the same route towards Merotai. When they reached the scene, the cook was believed to have lost control resulting in his motorcycle hitting the other motorcycle.

“The cook fell off the motorcycle and was hit by a Toyota Hiace van driven by a 41-year-old man that was passing through heading for Tawau,” he said.

The case is still being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
