
SEMPORNA: The Marine Police Force (MPF) seized some 714 packets of cooking oil worth more than RM2,500 from a speedboat off Tanjung Pantau-Pantau, here, on Friday.
A MPF team was patrolling the waters when they spotted a suspicious speedboat.
When the team attempted to intercept the boat, it sped off towards the shallow areas off Tanjung Pantau-Pantau, Pulau Bum Bum.
The suspect then jumped into the water and disappeared in darkness.

Also found were two barrels containing petrol and an empty barrel.
All the items, including the speedboat, were seized.
Sabah Region Four MPF Commander ACP Ahmad Arifin said the case is being investigated under the Control of Supply Act 1961.
