THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) said Friday it would strengthen information sharing with the Office of the Ombudsman, Department of Justice (DOJ) and other government agencies in handling smuggling cases.
“The BOC remains committed to working closely with the Office of the Ombudsman, Department of Justice, and other partner agencies,” Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said.
Nepomuceno said effective enforcement and prosecution of offenders depend on inter-agency cooperation.
“The efforts were aimed at protecting government revenues, strengthening anti-smuggling operations and serving the interests of the Filipino people,” he added.
Nepomuceno said the BOC has stepped up its campaign against illegal drugs, counterfeit goods and other illicit shipments through intensified intelligence gathering and coordination with other law enforcement agencies.
