POLICE have uncovered an illegal ‘mini casino’ operating out of a house in Lorong Sentul Bahagia 4, Jalan Sentul Pasar, following a targeted raid by the Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division of the Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department.

The operation, carried out at about 12.30am last Friday under Op Dadu, led to the arrest of five individuals believed to be involved in organising and participating in a poker-style gambling operation.

In a statement today, the D7 division of the Kuala Lumpur police contingent said those arrested were five men aged between 23 and 42.

“The suspects arrested comprised one local man believed to be the organiser as well as a gambling player, who resides at the premises,” it said.

“Also arrested were three other local men and one Canadian national, all believed to be players,” the statement added.

Police said the raiding team also seized several items used during the gambling activities, including gambling chips used as currency, playing cards and poker table coverings.

“Investigations are being conducted under Section 7(2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and Section 6(3) of the Immigration Act 1959/63,” the statement said.

“All suspects have been remanded until Jan 3, 2026, to facilitate further investigations,” it added.

The police stressed that enforcement efforts against illegal gambling activities in the capital would be intensified and that firm action would be taken against any individuals found to be violating the law. - January 3, 2025
