Kota Kinabalu: Police are hunting a male suspect involved in the snatching of a woman’s handphone at the University Apartment shoplots on Tuesday.
City Police Chief, ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said the woman was closing her shop alone at about 12.12am when the customer snatched the phone out of her hands and took off on a motorcycle.
Police could not make out the vehicle’s license plate number. However, the premises’s CCTV footage caught the man’s helmet clad face.
“The suspect was wearing a white collared t-shirt, slim, bearded with long hair and wearing a white SGV brand motorcycle helmet during the crime,” said Zaidi.
The public are urged to alert police if they run into the suspect so arrests can be made by contacting Investigating Officer Inspector Allexius Sapikit at 016-3888828.
“Members of the public are also advised to practice caution at all times and be wary of every movement, especially at night when criminals are most active.
“Do not let them take advantage of you by being absent minded. Avoid being alone in quiet or secluded places to avoid any untoward incidents,” he said.
