AUTHORITIES are searching for a foreign national, suspected of being intoxicated, who went on a violent rampage at a dim sum restaurant on Jalan Klang Lama during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The Brickfields District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook, confirmed that the restaurant owner lodged a formal complaint at 11am on May 5.
“Initial investigations indicate that the incident took place at approximately 1.56 am on 4 May 2026. The complainant stated that the suspect was a stranger whom he had never encountered before the altercation,” Hoo said in a statement.
The suspect, identified as a Nigerian national, reportedly caused significant damage to the premises by flipping over numerous tables and chairs.
Fearing for his physical safety, the restaurant owner did not attempt to intervene.

Many customers fled the establishment to avoid being caught in the suspect’s path, as he was believed to be heavily under the influence of alcohol at the time.
Investigators have conducted a site inspection and secured closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage recordings of the outburst.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing damage to property.
The incident gained widespread attention after a video of the rampage began circulating on social media.
The footage, which shows the man overturning furniture, was uploaded to the @My_CrimeWatch account on X and is believed to have been recorded on the night of May 4.
