PETALING JAYA: Police have launched an investigation into a groundbreaking ceremony in Kuala Lumpur which involved a recitation of prayers (doa) by a Muslim alongside rituals involving non-Muslims.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Allaudeen Abdul Majid said a report was lodged over the matter last Tuesday, Sinar Harian reported.
“An investigation is being held by Bukit Aman’s classified crime investigation unit (USJT),” he was quoted as saying.
He also urged members of the public against speculating on the case.

Although Jawi did not mention which ceremony it was referring to, Monday’s groundbreaking ceremony at MIC’s new headquarters saw Muslim, Hindu and Christian prayers being recited.
A video uploaded on Tamil-language media Makkal Osai’s Facebook page of the ceremony showed a man reciting a doa while sitting with a congregation of Hindu priests during a ritual.
A Hindu priest then performed a ritual, which was followed by a prayer led by a pastor.
Separately, Allaudeen said Kuala Lumpur City Hall has shut down the premises of a building at Bukit Bintang after it held an event that involved scantily clad women dancing on the streets.
