Cops record five statements in death of 9-year-old found after fall from 13th floor in Ampang

POLICE have recorded statements from five individuals in connection with the death of a nine-year-old boy who was found lifeless after he is believed to have fallen from the 13th floor of a building in Taman Cahaya Ampang on Monday evening.

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Anuar Khalid said those questioned include the victim’s parents, other family members, and members of the public who witnessed or were present near the scene.

He confirmed that the child was a Malaysian citizen and held a MyKid identification document.

“The investigation found that the victim was a local citizen and held a MyKid,” he said today.

Previously, Khairul Anuar said police received information about the incident from a local woman at approximately 7.45pm on the day of the tragedy.

Initial investigations indicated that the boy was found unconscious after reportedly falling from the 13th floor of the residential building.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 7.42pm by a paramedic from Hospital Ampang.

Police have classified the case under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, which covers offences relating to child neglect and endangerment.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. - June 1, 2026
