Acting upon a tip-off, a police team confiscated 54 boxes, carrying 4,86,000 millilitre of liquor, from a shop at Dhartal village in Nadaun Assembly constituency near here yesterday.

The police team, led by Inspector Nirmal Singh, was patrolling the area when they received information about the liquor and took action. During the search 54 boxes of UNA No.1 were seized from Sharma General Store at Dhartal village.

SP Balbir Thakur said a case was registered against the accused, Bihari Lal Sharma, under Section 39 (1) (A) of the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act at Nadaun police station. He added that further investigation into the matter was being conducted.
