Kota Kinabalu: JSK Borneo Reef Sea World hosted 44 finalists of the Miss Tourism International 2023 in a Coral Planting programme, last Sunday.
JSK Group Managing Director Datuk Johnny Wong Chen Yee said it is a significant step towards the conservation of the marine ecosystems.
“Coral reefs, often called the ‘rainforests of the sea’, play a crucial role in the health of our ocean, offering shelter to a rich tapestry of marine life and protecting coastlines from erosion.
Yet, they are under constant threat from climate change, pollution, and unsustainable human activities.
Guided by local marine biologists and conservation experts, this hands-on experience of the grand finalists will foster a deep appreciation for the marine environment and a shared responsibility to safeguard it,” Johnny said.
“This fusion of beauty and environmental advocacy sets a powerful precedent for the industries to join forces in safeguarding our planet’s natural wonders,” he said.
The 44 beauties enjoyed the inflatable water park on the pontoon of the JSK Borneo Reef nestled within the breathtaking of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park while joining the visitors for a few local dances.
Also present were Sabah Parks Deputy Director Rmi Repin, Johnny’s wife Datin Christina Tung and other officials.
