Kota Kinabalu: Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan on Monday expressed disappointment after no deponent was ready to testify when the inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir resumed.
He said the hearing could not proceed as planned despite prior preparations having been made.
Amir Shah said the court had carefully considered the progress of the inquest before vacating and fixing the hearing date.
He reminded parties involved that July would mark the first anniversary of Zara's death, making it important for the inquiry to proceed without unnecessary delay.
The Coroner also noted that September would mark one year since the inquest began on Sept 3, 2025, adding that about 73 deponents had testified to date.
