PETALING JAYA: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has dismissed an anonymous letter accusing its leadership of mismanaging funds and fraud, calling it defamatory, says FAM president Hamidin Amin.
“Everything stated in the anonymous letter is more of a personal attack. It appears to come from one or more individuals who are dissatisfied with the highest leadership of FAM,” he said.
Hamidin added that all matters involving finances followed procedures and were scrutinised by various committees before being presented to the FAM executive committee for approval.
“A report on this matter will be sent to the FAM integrity committee, an independent body chaired by Aseh Che Mat, which includes the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

He added that FAM is “considering making a police report” because the incident will be viewed negatively by football fans in the country.
According to Hamidin, FAM will seek assistance from the Malaysian communications and multimedia commission to track down the source of the letter.
He said that an internal investigation will be conducted if it turns out that the letter originated from someone working in FAM.
On Sunday, a poison pen letter in the form of an email went viral on social media, accusing FAM of abuse of power, discrepancies in salaries and benefits of staff, and issues with the Harimau Malaya squad and the national training centre project.
