Kota Kinabalu: A total of 33 technical officers from among young Sabahans received appointment letters as a Contract of Service (COS) at the Sabah State Development Office (Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister’s Department (ICU JPM).

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor handed over the COS appointment letters to 10 civil engineers (J41), six assistant electrical engineers (JA29) and 17 assistant surveyors (JA29) in a brief ceremony held at Menara Kinabalu, here, Tuesday

Those appointed in phases will be placed and serve in district offices in Sabah to strengthen technical units and empower district offices.

A total of 53 technical officers received COS appointments in the first and second phases of the appointment last year, and were assigned to district offices throughout Sabah under the joint coordination of the State Rural Development Ministry and the State Development Office (ICU JPM Sabah).

The Government aims to appoint a total of 114 technical officers and so far 86 positions have been filled. An engineer and two assistant engineers as COS will be placed in each district office to speed up the implementation of people’s projects.

This programme is implemented throughout the country based on the approval of the State Government with the allocation of emoluments to be financed by the Federal Government.

Also present were Federal Domestic Trade and Costs of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, Deputy Chief Minister II cum Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, State Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim, State Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif and State Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ellron Angin.
