Costco is expanding delivery across 47 states, allowing members to have their groceries and other goods delivered right to their door.
The big box retailer announced two partnerships this week, one with DoorDash and another with Uber Eats.
DoorDash already provides Costco delivery in several international regions, including Australia, Sweden, and Puerto Rico.
The delivery giant will now deliver goods from all of Costco’s U.S. warehouse stores. It said Costco was among the most-searched retailers not yet on its U.S. platform.
Headquartered in Issaquah, Washington, Costco serves 81 million members globally and operates 639 stores across 47 states.
Only three states don’t have a single Costco store: Rhode Island, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
The delivery partnership with DoorDash will cover groceries, electronics, and household goods. Access is limited to Costco members, who are required to link their membership details to their DoorDash accounts.
On Tuesday, Uber Eats said it was expanding Costco delivery nationwide. Like DoorDash, Uber Eats already provides delivery from Costco in other countries, including Japan, France, Spain, Canada and Mexico.
Costco has maintained a delivery partnership with Instacart for nearly ten years. In 2024, it reached an agreement with Uber Eats, though that service was initially confined to 17 states.
DoorDash and Uber Eats have been expanding their U.S. grocery offerings in recent years. Last fall, both companies announced partnerships with Kroger, the nation's largest supermarket chain.
Costco opening new stores
Costco fans have something else to look forward to as the retailer is set to open 10 new stores in nine states this fall.
It is aiming to to open more than 30 new stores annually in the coming years.
In October, stores will open in Lee’s Summit, Missouri; The Colony, Texas; Amherst, New York; Lawrence, Kansas; and Camarillo, California.
Several more stores will open in November, including in South Meridian, Idaho; Vallejo, California; Chandler, Arizona; Newport News, Virginia; and Franklin, Wisconsin.
