Romantics Anonymous, the Han Hyo-joo and Shun Oguri-led Japanese drama, arrived on Netflix on 16 October 2025. Its heartwarming finale has left many fans wondering if Romantics Anonymous will return for a season 2.
This series is an adaptation of the 2010 French-Belgian rom-com Les Émotifs anonymes. It follows the tender story of Lee Hana (played by Han Hyo-joo), a brilliant yet socially anxious chocolatier, and Sosuke Fujiwara (played by Shun Oguri), the germophobic director of the elegant chocolate shop Le Sauveur and heir to a confectionery empire, Futago. Opposites in nature, their worlds collide in the sweetest way possible.
So, is season 2 on the cards for the Netflix show?
Has Netflix renewed Romantics Anonymous for season 2?
As of October 2025, Netflix has not renewed Romantics Anonymous for a second season. This decision relies on various factors, including audience reactions and potential for new storylines.
Since the J-drama neatly wraps things up with a happy ending for its main protagonists, there isn’t much room for a second season.
However, we would definitely like to see a spin-off based on the romance between its second lead couple, Hiro Takada (played by Jin Akanishi) and Irene (played by Yuri Nakamura).
Additionally, a surprise cameo by Korean star Song Joong-ki and Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi in the finale has fans hoping for another chapter in the making. But only time would tell if their prayers are answered.

Romantics Anonymous wraps up on a heartwarming note. Hana and Sosuke finally conquer the fears that once kept them from achieving their goals.
Sosuke, who was once a germophobe and flinched at human touch, now stands tall, leading a tense board meeting at Futago with calm authority. On the other hand, Hana, the shy “anonymous chocolatier” who dreaded attention, bravely competes in a national contest to save Le Sauveur and wins. Their journey comes full circle as they find strength in each other’s love and get married.
Meanwhile, Irene, their therapist and the operator of an anonymous self-help group, opens her heart to Hiro, the owner of the Brush, the bar.
