Counter Terrorism Police make two more arrests over planned arson on Jewish site

  • Counter Terrorism Police have made two further arrests, bringing the total to nine, in an ongoing investigation into an alleged conspiracy to commit arson at a site connected to the Jewish community.
  • A 19-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were arrested in Watford on Tuesday and remain in custody, suspected of planning an arson attack at an unknown Jewish community venue.
  • Seven other individuals previously arrested for conspiracy to commit arson have been released on bail with strict conditions, including three men from Harpenden, one from Stevenage, and a man and two women detained near Birmingham.
  • Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans, Senior National Co-ordinator of Counter Terrorism Policing, stated that investigations are continuing at pace to identify and arrest all suspects involved in recent arson attacks in north-west London.
  • Evans emphasised the determination to charge all those involved in the criminal activity, warning that the stakes are high and it is not worth the risk to participate.
