  • Following the power vacuum, Nepalese anti-corruption protestors utilised the Discord platform to nominate an interim leader.
  • Sushila Karki, a 73-year-old former chief justice known for her integrity and staunch anti-corruption stance, emerged as the chosen interim Prime Minister.
  • Her appointment, making her the first woman to lead Nepal, was agreed upon by President Ramchandra Paudel, the chief of the Nepal Army, and representatives of the Gen-Z protest movement.
  • As one of her initial acts, Ms Karki dissolved Nepal’s parliament and scheduled new general elections for March 2026.
