This American couple will long remember this particular playtime with their dogs.
While a couple was quietly playing with their dogs, their attention was caught by the sound of a cat meowing.
Kitten taken into care by a rescue
As reported by the website Love Meow, the couple looked over their fence and found a tiny stray kitten.
The man and woman knew they couldn't just leave her there. The poor little creature was lethargic and desperately needed some food.
The kitten quickly made her way to a bowl of food. The family then contacted "Puppy Kitty NY City", a rescue organisation in the US, to get her off the streets.
Named Felicia, the little animal was picked up by volunteers from the rescue. Unsurprisingly, she was suffering from malnutrition and was treated for hypoglycaemia.
She's doing much better now
After receiving the right care, the little kitten was soon back on her paws. She especially enjoyed being cuddled by her foster mum, Alyssa.
"Everyone was very worried about whether she would make it, and thankfully, she received prompt care. She's on a few treatments and is staying with me until she feels better," explained Alyssa.
