A COUPLE has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis plants in their rented condominium unit in Bangsar following a police raid late last night.
Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook said the pair were detained during an operation conducted by the Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Crime Investigation Department at about 11.30pm.
“During the inspection, police found two suspected ganja plants and 27 grammes of dried leaves believed to be ganja, worth about RM1,210,” he said in a statement today.
Hoo said the 48-year-old male suspect admitted to learning how to grow the plants through an online video platform. The man also tested positive for drugs and has a previous record for a similar offence.
His 40-year-old girlfriend was also arrested, and police seized two mobile phones along with several pieces of jewellery, including three necklaces, four pendants and two rings.
Both suspects, who are unemployed, have been remanded for further investigation under Section 6B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - November 7, 2025
