KOTA KINABALU: The Special Corruption Court has dismissed an application for a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) by businessman Datuk Tei Jiann Cheing, or Albert, who faces two charges of offering RM350,000 in bribes to two Sabah assemblymen over mineral exploration licences.

Judge Jason Juga ruled against the bid due to a state-issued entry ban on Tei, who was denied entry at Kota Kinabalu International Airport on October 23.

The court directed the prosecution to coordinate with the Immigration Department to ensure Tei’s attendance at future hearings and set November 28 for pre-trial case management.
