Kuala Lumpur: The sessions court here has given Naimah Khalid, wife of former finance minister Daim Zainuddin, temporary custody of her passport for travel to the UK and Japan on work matters.
Judge Azura Alwi granted the application after the prosecution, represented by deputy public prosecutor Maziah Mohaide, raised no objections.
Naimah’s lawyer, Nizamuddin Abdul Hamid, told the court that his client was seeking the release of her passport for travel beginning today until Nov 11.
The court had previously released the passport to Naimah for travel to Europe and China.

Read more Earlier this year, Naimah claimed trial before the sessions court to a charge of failing to comply with the terms of an asset declaration notice under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act.
She was accused of failing to declare her ownership of companies, several plots of land here and in Penang, as well as two vehicles.
Naimah was allowed bail of RM250,000 in one surety. Her passport was surrendered to the court as part of her bail conditions.
