Kuala Lumpur: Covid-19 positive individuals who plan to vote in the general election on Saturday must wear face masks at all times, says health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said they are also not allowed to ride in public transport vehicles, including e-hailing vehicles.
“They are also not to stop by anywhere before and after voting and must return home immediately,” he said in a statement today.
To ensure the voting process runs smoothly and safely, and to reduce the risk of infection, Noor Hisham said, those who are Covid-19 positive should adhere to social distancing.
He also encouraged other voters to wear masks. They should use hand sanitisers provided at polling stations, or bring their own hand sanitiser.
Noor Hisham also called on individuals who have not received a booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to immediately register and get their vaccine, to protect themselves and those around them.
“Let’s work together to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection to voters and those on duty at polling stations throughout GE15,” he said.
Yesterday, Noor Hisham shared on his Facebook page an infographic on general advice for voters to reduce the risk of the spread.
He said healthcare workers would be stationed at polling centres to help facilitate voting for those who are Covid-19 positive.
