Covid-19 still a deadly threat in Sarawak

COVID-19 is still a deadly threat in Sarawak, with new infections and deaths recorded regularly every month in the state.

State Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian today said the public cannot take Covid-19 lightly.

“There are still people in Sarawak who are getting infected with Covid-19 every week, with many also dying due to Covid-19.

“The death toll in Sarawak has already reached 1,793 as of November 15,” he said in his winding up speech at the state assembly in Kuching.

Sim, who is also state public health, housing and local government minister, said the first Covid-19 case in the state was detected in March 2020.

Until November 18, a total of 328,256 positive cases have been recorded statewide.

“Out of this, 99% of them have recovered,” he said.

Sim said all hospitals in the districts are prepared to deal with any imminent surges in Covid cases. – The Vibes, November 29, 2023
