In a major crackdown under “Operation Lagam”, the Palwal police registered FIRs in six cases linked to gangster culture, weapon display and social media showmanship. The police counselled 38 social media users and removed nearly 1,000 reels and posts. A special cell was also set up for round-the-clock social media monitoring.
Palwal SP Nitish Agarwal said five special teams were formed to curb road hooliganism. In the last 40 days, police booked 8,050 violators for illegal red-blue lights, black film, pressure horns, modified Bullet silencers, drunk driving and driving without number plates.
To curb crime, reckless driving and social media hooliganism, the district police launched “Operation Lagam – Na Reel Mein Gundagardi, Na Road Par Manmani” with a special enforcement plan.
Under the operation, five teams, including SWAT teams, have been deployed to act against stunt driving and reckless behaviour on roads. Strict action is also being taken at police station and chowki levels.
“Na Reel Mein Gundagardi, Na Road Par Manmani will not be tolerated in Palwal. Special Cell and SWAT teams have been formed under ‘Operation Lagam’ to curb such activities. The Social Media Monitoring Cell is active 24×7. Anyone displaying weapons, firing shots or spreading fear on Instagram, Facebook or any other platform will face strict action. Operation Lagam will continue without pause,” Agarwal added.
