Kota Kinabalu: A woman and her child escaped uninjured when their BYD car crashed into a streetlight while trying to avoid a pack of fighting dogs in Foh Sang, on Wednesday.

The incident happened at about 6.40am when the woman, identified as Goh, 41, a Penampang resident, was driving her BYD electric vehicle through the Foh Sang area.

She had just dropped off her first child at Tsung Tshin School and was en route to a tuition center near Merdeka Supermarket area to drop off her second child, aged five.

While passing through Foh Sang, they encountered a pack of dogs fighting in the middle of the street.

In her attempt to avoid hitting the animals, she lost control of her vehicle and collided with a nearby streetlight.

Fortunately, both mother and child escaped the incident without any injuries.

The BYD vehicle also sustained minor damages, though the streetlight suffered some structural damage as a result of the impact.

City Police SM Morni was at the scene to investigate.
