  • Rob Grant, co-creator of the beloved science-fiction sitcom Red Dwarf, has died at the age of 70.
  • His family announced his sudden death on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, expressing a great loss to his family, friends, and comedy fans.
  • Grant co-created Red Dwarf with Doug Naylor, which first aired on BBC Two in 1988 and later saw a revival, following the adventures of the last human in space.
  • The writing duo also collaborated on other projects, including Spitting Image and Radio 4 comedies, before developing the Red Dwarf concept from a sketch.
  • Just days before his death, Grant had announced the upcoming publication of a new Red Dwarf prequel novel, Red Dwarf: Titan, and tributes were led by star Craig Charles.
