- Two people, Roman Lavrynovych, 22, and Stanislav Carpiuc, 27, have been jailed for a total of nine years for plotting and carrying out arson attacks targeting properties linked to prime minister Keir Starmer.
- The attacks, which occurred in May last year, included setting fire to a car previously owned by Sir Keir, a block of flats where he used to live, and his former home in Kentish Town, which was then occupied by his sister-in-law and her family.
- The pair were acting under instructions from a shadowy Russian-speaking Telegram account named 'El Money', which offered Lavrynovych £3,000 in cryptocurrency to film the blazes and ensure they gained media attention.
- At the Old Bailey, Judge Mr Justice Garnham sentenced Lavrynovych to seven years' imprisonment, while Carpiuc received a two-year sentence, with mitigation arguing Lavrynovych was 'used' and Carpiuc was helping a friend.
- Lavrynovych was also convicted of damaging two properties by fire, being reckless as to whether life was endangered, with one incident involving a resident escaping to the roof and another where Sir Keir's sister-in-law was woken by an orange glow at her front door.
