Critics react to The Celebrity Traitors series two – ‘unmissable telly’

  • Celebrity Traitors has returned to our screens, with critics awarding the new series positive reviews following its premiere on Thursday 1 October.
  • Love Island host Maya Jama was selected as the first Traitor, followed by actor Richard E Grant – but it didn’t stop there. Claudia revealed to the cast that the Traitors line-up wasn’t yet complete and another will be added to the mix.
  • Writing for The Independent, Jessie Thompson awarded the show 5 stars, writing: “All the signs are that this will be another series of unmissable telly, with the episode ending on a brilliant cliffhanger”.
  • Meanwhile, Lucy Mangan of The Guardian gave 4 stars in her review, adding: “The cast feels slightly more muted – the energy is not quite there yet. But Claudia and her clothes and attitude are, and the opening episode of any Traitors outing is always the weakest.”
  • Meanwhile, Carol Midgley – writing for The Times – praised this year’s line-up, concluding her review with: “The best reality TV show in Britain has returned. Yes, with a strange curved ball, but in great, great style.”
