Critics savage Liz Truss's 'deranged' new book about her disastrous mini-budget

  • Former UK prime minister Liz Truss has released her latest book, Bank Job, which sets out to challenge the narrative surrounding her widely unpopular 2022 mini-budget which ultimately led to her resignation from Number 10 after just 49 days.
  • The book reportedly makes bold and often bizarre claims that the UK would have launched “several missions to Mars” if she had remained as prime minister.
  • Much like Truss’s budget, the 51-year-old’s new book has been savaged by critics, with The Telegraph’s Simon Heffer giving it zero stars, branding it “the most deranged thing I’ve ever read.”
  • Meanwhile, The Independent’s Sean O’Grady called Bank Job, Truss “worst book yet”, lamenting her outlandish conspiracy theory that Labour making the Bank of England operationally independent in 1997 was part of her downfall.
  • Finally, Robert Crampton in The Times said it all with his headline: “Liz Truss has now shown she’s as good a writer as she was a prime minister”.
