It is lovely to eat popcorn chicken as a snack, isn’t it? What is popcorn chicken? Popcorn chicken is a dish consisting of small, bite-sized pieces of chicken that have been breaded and deep-fried.

Many of you may think that this recipe is difficult to prepare. Actually, it is very easy to prepare this crunchy popcorn chicken. The ingredients are also kept to the minimum.

Ingredients

For chicken marination

  • 250 grams of chicken pieces
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup buttermilk or ( ½ cup milk mix with 1 teaspoon lemon juice)

For coating chicken (flour mixture)

  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder

Method

  1. Let’s start with the marination first. Take a bowl, wash and cut the chicken pieces into bite-size.
  2. Now add salt, pepper, garlic powder and buttermilk. Mix well.
  3. Let the marinated chicken stand for 1 hour.
  4. Now to prepare the coating of the chicken, take a wide dish/plate. Start by putting in the flour, black pepper, chilli powder, oregano, garlic powder, salt and baking powder. Mix well.
  5. Now take the chicken pieces one by one with a tong and coat them with the flour mixture. Once you have finished coating all, let them rest for 10 minutes.
  6. Heat oil on medium heat and fry the popcorn chicken for 3 to 4 minutes. Enjoy the popcorn chicken while they are hot with chilli or tomato sauce!

Final thoughts

  1. You can serve this popcorn chicken as a snack.
  2. If you wish to make a burger from this, you can do so. All you need is a burger bun, mayonnaise, cucumber, lettuce and tomato slices.
  3. You can make these chicken popcorns ahead of time. You can freeze them for 2 weeks.
  4. Take out the frozen popcorn chicken from the freezer 2 hours ahead before frying them.
