Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has dismissed talk of taking on a weakened Manchester United in tonight's Carabao Cup tie.
Hodgson admits injury concerns will force him to rotate his XI on the night.
He said, "I'm trying to think of a time in my career, in the many matches I've had at Old Trafford, where I have been happy to go there or been thinking this is a good time to play them. Old Trafford is a bit special.
We are talking about one of the two biggest football clubs in the world, so even though they might not be firing on all cylinders they are still going to be looking at a bench which is costing maybe several hundred million, whereas our bench might contain a few players who have not played a Premier League match.
It will be a very difficult game, there's no doubt about that. But it will be a good experience, and if those players who haven't had a chance can get a chance it will be good for them to show what they can do at the very top level.
I believe enough in this team, this squad and our organisation to believe that whatever XI we choose to play, we are capable of giving Man Utd a good game.
But I'm not prepared to say that it will be an easy game now because they have found themselves in the eye of criticism. It's noise really from the outside.
I don't know what is going on inside the club, they might be very strong, they might it is the noise from the outside, which, to be honest, if you are a Crystal Palace or Fulham manager, you get a bit less of than if you are Man Utd or Liverpool. I've been at both ends and I know what it is like."
