Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira was pleased with their 'fighting spirit' after Saturday's 0-0 draw with Newcastle.
Palace are yet to win in 2023.
But Vieira said: "We needed to battle and compete; that is what we did. We took a point we deserved. It was difficult to play out from the back in the first half, we were putting pressure on ourselves. When we went long, we couldn't win the second ball. We were starting to lose our confidence.
"Today was about sticking together, fighting and competing. We worked hard and showed what we needed to show today. I'm pleased with that."
On Nick Pope's save from Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, he added: "The top goalkeepers only have one save to make and they make it well. We were unlucky."
