As the search for the best beauty advent calendars continues, Cult Beauty has finally unveiled the full contents behind its countdown. If that wasn’t good enough, it has also surprised us by announcing another calendar, named the special edition.
The signature edition contains 33 products, 17 of which are full-size (three less than last year), and the newly announced calendar, the special edition, contains 38 products (two less than last year). Both calendars cost £245, which is £5 more than last year. Given that there are fewer products this year and the retailer has hiked the price, the contents of the calendars need to be worth it.

The full details of Cult Beauty’s signature edition have now been revealed. As ever, the contents of the 25-day countdown span makeup, skincare, haircare and bodycare.
One product has sparked debate among the beauty community. While the Patrick Ta blush was an exciting inclusion in last year's calendar, its return in a different shade has left some beauty fans underwhelmed. Several have taken to social media to question the colour choice. TikTok creator @fashionableforecast even described it as “possibly the most unwearable shades I've ever seen”. While I’m not sure I agree entirely, another red lipstick does feel slightly uninspiring.
That aside, Cult Beauty promised “more customer favourite brands than ever”, and it has seemingly delivered, with the likes of Vieve, Medik8, Gisou and more in the mix. Similarly, it has included a range of high-value full-size products. Namely, Allies of Skin azelaic & kojic advanced clarifying serum (worth £94), Sulwhasoo first care activating serum (worth £45) and, to satisfy Korean skincare lovers, Anua PDRN hyaluronic acid 100 moisturising cream (worth £24).
Overall, there’s a good mix, so the advent calendar will suit those who enjoy dalliances with high-end skincare and trying big cult beauty names.

The surprise second advent calendar has largely the same products. Makeup remains strong, with products from the likes of Westman Atelier and Charlotte Tilbury. Skincare is another area where this calendar shines. I’m excited to see the inclusion of Korean skincare brand Anua, as well as a full-size Sunday Riley tidal deep hydration and plumping serum and of course the 111Skin eye mask (a saviour during party season).
Summer Fridays lip butter balm, Sol de Janeiro body badalada ’48 lotion, Augustinus Bader the rich cream and Fable & Mane holiroots hair oil have all been removed, though. These products have been replaced with five fragrances, a Color Wow volumiser, and a Davines oi all-in-one milk.
The perfume additions make this calendar perfect for someone who is actively building a perfume wardrobe with woody skin scents, musks, florals and fruity scents. Plus, you get five more items for the same price with this calendar compared to the signature edition.
