Kota Kinabalu: A large swarm of jellyfish beached at Kampung Jangkit, Kuala Penyu, on Wednesday, a phenomenon that piqued people's curiosity.

Justin Tianji, 55, a local from nearby Kampung Kiaru, said the whole stretch of the beach was inundated with jellyfish, some still alive in the water.

“I was on my way home around noon, and I spotted the jellyfish – some washed up on the beach, and some floating in the water,” he told the Daily Express. “My whole life living here, this is the first time I saw such a thing.”

He said local fishermen primarily use the beach to lay their fishing nets.
