
Kota Kinabalu: A subscriber of All-Asian Satellite Television and Radio Operator (Astro) services here is perplexed by the need for those manning Astro’s counter at 88 Austral Park to take photos of customers and their MyKad.
“I’ve been an Astro subscriber for many years and it’s perplexing why those working at the Astro counters need to take a photo of my MyKad and a photo of me using their handphones?,” he said after the encounter on Tuesday.
“My details is already in their system, why do they need to take photo of my MyKad and even my photo? I’m worried about my security, especially with all the online scams going around.
“I believe it is high time for them to enhance their services rather than taking pictures of existing customers and their MyKad,” he said.
He said even when dealing with banks, they don’t capture photos of customers and their MyKads.
“The banks only take clients MyKad details and fingerprint. They do not photograph their clients, nor do they photograph their customers’ MyKads.
“Why is Astro acting in this manner? Has something happened to cause them to act this way towards customers? he said.
