Good news for all employers as foreign workers' applications will be approved within three days. In addition, thousands of employers' and training providers' applications for the HRDC grants will be approved within 24 hours.

Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the Relaxation of Foreign Workers Recruitment Plan to seven sectors, was agreed upon by the Cabinet.

“The plan allows employers to hire foreign workers from 15 countries based on the employers’ needs and capabilities without having to go through pre-conditional hiring qualification and quota eligibility.”

This follows Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's war on the “elite minority who have used their power to enrich themselves and their clans”. Speaking at a dinner for the Malaysian community in Indonesia, he said he would not compromise even if it cost him his job.

“Malaysia must be free from the greed of the elite minority who have used their power to enrich themselves and their clans. I will not compromise at all although it will threaten my position,” he said, Bernama reported.

In the past, employers suffered from delays of foreign workers' approvals and HRDC grant approvals for months as corruption was rife in the past two years under the two bank door governments. Agents are charged a hefty commission for getting approvals in both sectors, and many are currently under investigation.

This letter, submitted on June 20, 2022, was addressed to Datuk Shahul Dawood, Chief Executive of Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDC). The letter was also copied to its chairman:  Datuk Seri Jamil Salleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

In addition, several employers and trainers have complained on social media and directly to HRDC that’ very frustrating over the backlog of grant approvals over several months.
