In a major breakthrough, a team from the Cyber Crime police station of the Kaithal police arrested two cyber fraudsters from the jungles of Nuh, where they were allegedly running a cyber fraud racket.

The accused have been identified as Mohammad Maqsood and Nasim, both residents of Mamlika in Nuh. Nasim has been sent to judicial custody, while Maqsood has been sent to two-day police remand. The police claimed that they had been operating cyber fraud schemes from the jungle hideout.

Giving details, the police spokesperson said that Simran, a resident of the Devigarh road in Kaithal, filed a complaint stating that she holds a bank account with Union Bank. On April 26, she received a call from a man posing as her father’s friend, who tricked her into transferring money through Google Pay in her father’s name. She further alleged that the fraudsters duped her and her mother of Rs 1,07,800 by sending fake transaction messages and QR codes.

On her complaint, Superintendent of Police Manpreet Singh Sudan assigned the case to the Cyber Crime police station, where a case was registered. Under the supervision of ASI Manish Kumar and his team led by ASI Amrit Lal, the accused were tracked down and arrested from the forest area.

“The police are investigating the involvement of others in this case,” said the spokesperson.
