The Czech Republic’s consumer price inflation accelerated in April to its highest level in six months, driven by rising transport costs, data from the Czech Statistical Office showed on Wednesday.

Consumer prices rose 2.5% year-on-year, up from 1.9% in March and in line with a preliminary estimate published on May 6. The latest reading marks the highest annual inflation rate since October 2025.

Transport costs increased 8.7% from a year earlier, reflecting a 24.6% jump in fuel and lubricant prices. Diesel and petrol prices reached their highest levels since October and November 2022, respectively.

Housing and utility costs rose 6.3%, while prices for recreational services were up 6.1%. By contrast, food and non-alcoholic beverage prices continued to fall, declining 1.3% year-on-year.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.5%, in line with the initial estimate.
